#TATAIPL2022 : Match 58: Mitchell Marsh, David Warner The Stars As Delhi Capitals Beat Rajasthan Royals By Thumping 8 Wickets

Needing to keep their play – offs hopes alive Delhi Capitals came out with a all- round show to beat Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets in the 58th match of the Tata IPL 2022.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and fielded first. His bowlers did a good job restricting the powerful Royals line-up . Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for ( 19). Orange cap holder the dangerous Jos Butter was out for ( 7). Ravichandran Ashwin scored a valuable 38 ball 50 ( 4 fours and 2 sixes). Devdutt Padikkal too led his hand with a 30 ball 48 ( 6 fours, 2 sixes) . Skipper Sanju Samson was out for 6 . Riyan Parag ( 9) . The Royals missed the finishing ability of Shimron Hetmyer in the middle – order as the managed 160/ 6 in their 20 overs.

DEC bowlers were on top : Anrich Nortje 2/ 39 ( 4 overs), Chetan Sakariya 2/ 23 ( 4 overs), Shardul Thakur 0/ 27 ( 4 overs) , Axar Patel 0/ 25 ( 2 over) , Mitchell Marsh 2/ 25 ( 3 overs) , Kuldeep Yadav 0/ 20 ( 3 overs)

In reply Delhi Capitals was jolted early with Trent Boult striking to get rid of opener S Bharat for ( 0) . Trent Boult would have got his second Mitchell Marsh leg before but Royals skipper Sanju Samson did not go a for a DRS review. Boult was confident. Much to Royals horror the DRS review showed the ball hitting the wickets. It was cost error that cost them the match. Mitchell Marsh made them pay heavily as he smashed his first fifty of his IPL . He has d got the starts but could not convert them into big one . This time he did with a powerful packed 62 ball 69 ( 5 fours , 7 sixes). In- form David Warner showed why is he known as IPL legend with yet another consistent showing at the top of the order. Warner smashed yet another unbeaten 41 ball 52 ( 5 fours, 1 six) . Marsh and Warner put on  a superb 144  partnership for the second wicket

Delhi Skipper Rishabh Pant not out ( 13) finished the match in hurry with two big sixes of Yuzvendra Chahal to help Delhi cruise home by 8 wickets and 11 balls to spare . DC reaching 161/ 2 in 18. 1 overs.

For Royals it was night to forget : Trent Boult 1/ 32( 4 overs) bowled well than his figures suggest. Prasidh Krishna 0/ 20 ( 3 overs) , Ravichandran Ashwin 0/32 (4 overs) , Kuldeep Sen 0/ 32 (3.1 overs) , Yuzvendra Chahal 1/ 43 ( 4 overs) . Ashwin- Chahal gave away 75 in their 8 overs that hurt the Royals.
