#TATAIPL2022: Match 46 : With MSD In Charge, CSK Powered By Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway Beat Sunrisers Hyderabad By 13 Runs

Mahendra Singh Dhoni made a winning return as Chennai Super Kings Skipper as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs in the 46th match of the Tata IPL 2022 at the MCA stadium at Pune.

SRH skipper Kane Williamson chose to field after winning the toss. CSK batsmen made him rue his decision as they blazed away to an imposing total . Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were outstanding at the top as they smashed the SRH bowling all around with spate of fours and sixes . They duo put on a superb 182 run opening stand in 17. 5 overs . Gaekwad was unlucky not to get to a well deserved 100 as he was out for 99 ( 57 balls, 6 fours and 6 sixes) . Kiwi Devon Conway on the other remained unbeaten with a equally classy and power packed knock of 85 ( 55 balls, 8 fours and 4 sixes) . Mahendra Singh Dhoni was out for 8. Ravindra Jadeja not out 1 as CSK finished at 202/ 2 in their 20 overs.

For SRH it was tough night out out with the ball. The bowling figures told the story . T Natarajan bagged the both CSK wickets with figures of 2/42 (4 overs) , Rest flopped . Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0/ 22 ( 4 overs), Marco Jansen 0/ 38 ( 4 overs), Aiden Markram 0/ 36 ( 4 overs) in-form Umran Malik went wicketless 0/ 48 ( 4 overs) , Shashank Singh 0/10 ( 1 over)

In reply chasing a mammoth total . SRH began well with an aggressive start by Abhishek Sharma and Skipper Kane Williamson . The duo put on 58 in 5.5 overs for the first wicket to put the chase on track . But after Abhishek fell for 39 ( 24 balls , 5 fours, 1 six) the team lost wicket at regular intervals to jolt the chase. In-from Rahul Tripathi was out for (0) . Another in-from batsman Aiden Markram after some big hits fell for ( 17) . Skipper Williamson battled his way back to some form before he was out for a 37 ball 47 with two fours and two sixes as the run rate climbed. West Indian Nicholas Pooran did not give up hope even as he ran out of partners. Pooran was unbeaten with a 33 ball 64 ( 3 fours and 6 sixes). Shashnak Singh could score only ( 15) as SRH finished at 189/ 6 in their 20 overs. CSK winning by 13 runs .

For CSK in bowling , Mukesh Choudhary was brilliant at the top with 4/ 46 ( 4 overs) , Mitchell Santner 1/36 (4 overs), Dwaine Pretorius 1/ 40 (4 overs) , Maheesh Theekshana 0/26 (4 overs) , Simarjeet Singh 0/ 24 (2 overs) , Ravindra Jadeja 0/ 15 ( 3 overs). CSK Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni made smart bowling changes and his field placings were spot on.
