#TATAIPL2022 : Match 38 : Shikhar Dhawan Dazzles, Bowlers Stand Tall As Punjab Kings Beat Chennai Super Kings By 11 Runs

In the 38th match of the TataIPL2022 at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai it was the Punjab Kings which held their nerves in the end as they edged out the Chennai Super Kings by 11 runs

CSK Skipper Ravindra Jadeja chose to field after winning the toss . Punjab Skipper Mayank Agarwal was out for 18 . But the innings got rhe momentum thanks to the 110 run partnership between seasoned Shikhar Dhawan and Sri Lankan big hitter Bhanuka Rajapaksa . The duo put on a superb 110 run partnership . Dhawan was superb and batted all the way and remained unbeaten on a power packed 59 ball 88 with 9 fours and two sixes.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa too played a vita 32 ball 42. Liam Livingstone chipped in towards the end with with 7 ball 19 as Punjab anchored by Dhawan posted 187/ 4 in their 20 overs.

CSK bowling figuyres were : Mukesh Choudhary 0/36 ( 4 overs), Maheesh Theekshana 1/32( 4 overs), Mitchell Santner 0/8 ( 2 overs) , Ravindra Jadeja 0/18 ( 2 overs), Dwaine Pretorius 0/50 ( 4 overs) struggled with his line and length, Dwayne Bravo 2/ 42 ( 4 overs)

In reply CSK began slowly . Robin Uthappa was out for 1. The move to send Mitchell Santner at number was blunder by CSK. The Kiwi struggled to get bat on ball , wasted too many deliveries and was out for woeful 15 ball 9 . Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a 27 ball 30 . Shivam Dube fell for 8 . CSK tottering at 40/ 3 in 7 overs. Ambati Rayudu showed some intent and keen to put the chase on track with a blistering 39 ball 78 studded with 7 fours and six sixes. Punjab bowlers Rishi Dhawan ( caused a stir wearing a face mask) , Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada backed by good fielding never allowed the CSK to get away . Skipper Ravindra Jadeja was not out on 21. Mahendra Singh Dhoni could not repeat his Mumbai Indians heroics out for 12 off 8. Punjab held their nerves to clinch a 11 run win. CSK eventually finishing at 176/6 in their 20 overs. The move to sent Santner at 3 had cost them the match. As the difference was mere 11 runs. Punjab win brought smile on the face of  the team’s co- owner and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta who is back in the stands to cheer for her side.

For the Kings their bowlers stood tall : Kagiso Rabada 2/ 23 ( 4 overs),Rishi Dhawan 2/ 39 ( 4 overs)  Sandeep Sharma 1/ 40 ( 4 overs), Arshdeep Singh 1/ 23 ( 4 overs) , Rahul Chahar 0/ 30 ( 3 overs), Liam Livingstone 0/12 ( 1 over)
