Salman Khan Gets 5 Year Jail Term In Blackbuck Poaching Case, Lawyers To Move HC For Bail

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in jail in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case by the Jodhpur Court while announcing the quantum of sentence . He was also fined Rs 10,000 in the case. This order came after he was found guilty .

So as the verdict came out , Salman according to media reports became emotional and appeared sad. His sisters Alvira and Arpita who had accompanied him broke down after hearing the verdict.

Salman’s Lawyers are preparing to move to HC for bail according to the latest reports post verdict. Till the time he gets bail he will have to spent his time in Jodhpur Central jail.

Salman was found guilty of killing the blackbucks, from the antelope family, in Kankani village near Jodhpur on the night of October 1, 1998 during the shooting of the film “Hum Saath Saath Hain”.

Earlier , While Jodhpur court convicted Salman for killing two blackbucks in October 1998 but acquitted his colleagues Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre.

Salman, who has been held guilty under Section 9/51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, faces a maximum punishment of six years behind bars. Final arguments of the case were completed in the trial court on March 28, after which Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri had reserved his judgment.
