Rahul Gandhi Backs His Rape In India Remark, Won’t Apologise, Kanimozhi Defends

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, caused an uproar in Lok Sabha. This scenario arose after Rahul during rally in Jharkhand , Gandhi had said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched ‘Make in India’ but nowadays it is ‘Rape in India’.

At rally in Jharkhand Gandhi remarked :  “Narendra Modi had said ‘Make in India’ but nowadays wherever you look, it is ‘Rape in India’. In Uttar Pradesh Narendra Modi’s MLA raped a woman, then she met with an accident but Narendra Modi did not utter a word,” he had said.

As the BJP demanded his apology, clarifying his statements further, Rahul Gandhi said : ” All I said was that PM keeps talking about ‘Make in India’, but when we open newspapers, all we read is about rape in India. There are news of rapes from every BJP ruled states.”

He further said : “I have a clip on my phone in which Narendra Modi ji is calling Delhi a ‘rape capital’, will tweet it so that everyone can see. Just to deflect attention from protests in North East, this is being made an issue by BJP. Rahul later tweeted

Rahul got support from DMK leader Kanimozhi said : “PM said ‘Make in India’, which we respect, but what is happening in country? That is what Rahul Gandhi intended to say. Unfortunately Make in India is not happening and women in the country are being raped. This is a concern.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his shock over Rahul Gandhi’s remarks stating : “Mein toh ahat hua hun, poora desh ahat hua hai. Kya aise log sadan mein aa sakte hain jo aise shabd istemaal karte hain? Kya unko poore sadan hi nahi balki poore desh se maafi nahi mangni chahiye”.

Union Minister Smriti Irani, who defeated the Congress leader in his home bastion Amethi in 2019 Lok Sabha poll, said: “This is the first time in history that a leader is giving a clarion call that Indian women should be raped. Is this Rahul Gandhi’s message to the people of the country?”
