QCI Organizes ONDC Hackathon – To transform Indian and global online retail, e-commerce

The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is a first-of-its-kind national-level, market-led initiative, to empower the Indian business ecosystem. Quality Council of India (QCI), in partnership with Protean e-Gov Pvt Ltd, and Beckn Foundation, is organizing an ONDC Grand Hackathon I from January 7 to 9, 2022. It invites participation from all interested individuals and organizations. It aims to widen its outreach to the potential network participants and develop innovative solutions to help them accelerate their integration into the network.

The Network will go live with commercial transactions in January 2022. Several e-commerce and logistics players of all scales and sizes will be joining the network.

QCI also organized its first-ever integration sprint from December 17 to 19, 2021, with participation from its community members, namely Growth Falcons, Gofrugal, Goodbox, Dunzo, Juspay, Paytm, focusing on fast-tracking their integration to the network.

The integration sprint commenced in the presence of Anil Agrawal, Additional Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Talking about the development of the global e-commerce network, he said, “I am happy to kickstart the ONDC Integration Sprint. We are looking forward to an exciting ONDC Hackathon and integration ideas from the community.”

Ms. Anjali Bansal, Co-founder, Avaana Capital, and Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman, QCI, encouraged the participants and reiterated, “The integration sprint has achieved a remarkable milestone as a critical step towards ONDC go-live. The ONDC community is set to unshackle the current boundaries of digital commerce and pave the way for a global revolution.”

The ONDC retail network is a “network of networks” model and a cascaded multi-domain transaction, which can be achieved from a single order ID.
