#powercut : Parts Of Maharashtra, Mumbai Come To A Halt With Massive Power Cut

Large parts of the financial capital Mumbai reported major power outage on Monday morning due to a technical failure. Power breakdown was reported from other parts of Maharashtra, as well.

In a tweet, Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) said,’ The electric supply is interrupted due to Tatas’ incoming electric supply failure.’

Meanwhile , Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Rau said ” Due to a technical glitch in Circuit 2 of the Kalva-Padghe powerhouse, the regions between Thane and Mumbai are facing a power cut. Our staff is working on it and power will be restored in an hour or 45 minutes”

Suburban local train services, operating only for essential workers at present, were affected from 1005 hours, sources said.

Multiple operators, including the state-run BEST, Adani Electricity and Tata Power supply power to the city.

Various parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region have reported a breakdown in electricity supply.

Reports of power failure have come in from areas like Nariman Point and Fort, Bandra, Andheri, Malad, Navi Mumbai, Chembur, Thane, Kalyan, Dahanu, Palghar, Lonavla and Pune.

Adani Electricity tweeted to inform that AEML is supplying around 385MW to critical services through Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) Dahanu. “Our teams are working to restore the supply in the affected areas at the earliest. We regret the inconvenience caused,” it tweeted.

“In view of interruption in Traction power at 10.05 hrs due to Grid failure of Tata Power company, services between Churchgate and Borivili are suspended. It shall be resumed as soon as traction power supply is restored. Commuters are requested to cooperate. However, Power supply, from MSETCL available at Vasai Road & it has been extended to work essential suburban trains between Borivili to Virar section. Efforts are on to start services in Churchgate-Borivali section. Commuters are requested not to panic & maintain social distancing,” the Western Railways said in a statement.
