The Punjab government constituted a two-member high-level committee to conduct a thorough probe into the ‘lapses’ that occurred during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ferozepur, an official spokesperson said.

The committee comprises Justice (Retd) Mehtab Singh Gill; principal secretary, home affairs; and Justice, Anurag Verma. ‘In order to carry out a thorough probe into the lapses that occurred during the Prime Minister’s visit to Ferozepur yesterday, the Punjab government has constituted a high-level committee,’ the spokesperson said.

The committee shall submit its report within three days, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, The BJP has said it rejects the committee that has been formed to probe . We reject the committee set up by the Punjab government to investigate the matter. This committee formed by the Chief Minister will never be able to find out anything because he himself is the ringleader of this conspiracy, Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma was quoted as saying by ANI

Sharma further stated, I have requested the Governor to suspend the Home Minister and DGP of Punjab. The protocols were not followed to receive the PM. Who leaked the Prime Minister’s route?

Meanwhile Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, attacked the Congress and questioned the silence of Navjot Singh Sidhu and party Interim president Sonia Gandhi. Mishra quoted by ANI said,  It’s been 16 hours but Navjot Singh Sidhu has not made any statement on PM’s security lapse in Punjab. Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has lost her family member due to a security breach so she knows this pain very well and should give a detailed clarification.
