Party Leaders Will Face Witch Hunt By Government Without Fear , Says P Chidambaram In A Tweet

A day after the government constituted an inter-ministerial committee to investigate the alleged violations of legal provisions by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RG), Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust, Senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram while reacting to the developments accused the Modi government of witch-hunting.

Taking to Twitter, Chidambaram said his party leaders will face the witch hunt by the Central government without fear. “Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi lived a life without fear. They faced death in the eye without fear,” he said .

“Both taught us that it is important to live and work fearlessly. And that is how we will face the witch hunt by the Modi government, the Congress leader said.

His remarks come a day after the Modi govt constituted an inter-ministerial committee to investigate the alleged violations of legal provisions by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RG), Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.

Earlier in his reaction former Congress president Rahul Gandhi had slammed the Centre saying that “those who fight for the truth cannot be intimidated”. “Mr Modi believes the world is like him. He thinks everyone has a price or can be intimidated. He will never understand that those who fight for the truth have no price and cannot be intimidated,” the Gandhi had said in a tweet.

Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress chief spokesperson too slammed the Modi government in a tweet posting the party statement, as he wrote, The Indian National Congress and its leadership will not be intimidated by the cowardly acts by a panicked Modi Government.
