#OperationKaveri : Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra Terms Sudan Situation Complex, Volatile ; Evacuation Of Indians Continues

The security situation in Sudan remains very complex and highly volatile and India’s efforts have been to ensure safety of Indian nationals, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said on Thursday.

At a media briefing as reported by ANI , he said India has been in touch with all the concerned sides in Sudan with a focus on taking out Indians from the conflict zones.

“Our focus has been to take out the Indians from the conflict zones to safer areas as soon as possible and then to bring them back home,” the foreign secretary said.

We are constantly monitoring the situation in Sudan since the conflict began on April 15. Our estimate is that there are approximately 3500 Indians & 1000 PIOs in Sudan, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra quoted as saying by ANI

Meanwhile, The fourth batch of 136 stranded Indians left Port Sudan for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia onboard an IAF C-130J aircraft on Wednesday.

“#OperationKaveri continues. 4th batch of stranded Indians departs from Port Sudan for Jeddah. IAF C-130J takes off with 136 passengers on board,” Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.
