On The Offensive : Mamata Banerjee Says BJP Cruel, Undemocratic Party, Backs Superstar Shah Rukh Khan Says He Was Victimised

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who held a meet in Mumbai ,has backed Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and said he was victimised.

Banerjee had declined to comment earlier when SRK’s son was arrested by NCB in the drug on cruise case and and spent 27 days in Arthur road jail. SRK is West Bengal’s Brand Ambassador, Hence Mamata’s silence on Aryan Khan’s arrest was noticed . Plus SRK co- owns the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.

The meeting was attended by political leaders, social activists, former high court judges and celebrities — High Court judges Shafi Parkar and Abhay Thipse, Tushar Gandhi, activists Teesta Setalvad and Medha Patkar, former Congress leader Sanjay Jha, Sudheendra Kulkarni, Shatrughan Sinha, author Shobha De and actors Swara Bhaskar, Rahul Bose and Konkona Sen Sharma.

Banerjee called the BJP a “cruel and undemocratic party”, and underscored the need of unity and sought advice and guidance for the battle ahead.

“India loves manpower not muscle power. We are facing a cruel undemocratic party the BJP. If we are together, we will win,” said the Trinamool chief, is on a two-day visit to Maharashtra.

“Mahesh ji (film director Mahesh Bhatt), you have been victimised, Shah Rukh Khan has also been victimised. If we have to win, we have to fight and speak out wherever you can. You guide us and give us advice as a political party,” the West Bengal CM said.

She added that if all regional parties come together, then it will be easy to defeat the BJP.
