In yet another dastardly attack, Rajni Bala (36) a Kashmiri Pandit teacher in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir has succumbed to her injuries after she was shot by terrorists .

An injured Bala was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival, the officials said. They said the area has been cordoned off and a manhunt launched to track down the assailants.

This is the second killing of a Kashmiri Pandit in the month of May. On May 12, Rahul Bhat was shot dead inside the tehsildar’s office in Chadoora tehsil of Budgam district.

Few days later, Kashmiri TV actress Amreen Bhat was killed by unidentified terrorists in Budgam’s Chadoora area in Jammu and Kashmir

This is the seventh targeted killing in Kashmir in the month. While three of the victims were off-duty policeman, four were civilians.

Omar Abdullah, National Conference Vice – President, and Former J& K Chief Minister  tweeted, Very sad. This is yet another targeted killing in a long list of recent attacks directed at unarmed civilians. Words of condemnation & condolence ring hollow as do the assurances of the government that they will not rest till situation normalises. May the deceased rest in peace.

In another tweet, Omar Abdullah wrote, Rajni was from Samba District of Jammu province. A government teacher working in Kulgam area of South Kashmir, she lost her life in a despicable targeted attack. My heart goes out to her husband Raj Kumar & the rest of her family. Another home irreparably damaged by violence.

Earlier, Lal Chowk city centre  few days back  had reverberated with slogans like ‘We want justice’ and ‘Administration haye haye‘ (down with administration) as scores of Kashmiri Pandits took out a protest march against the killing of Rahul Bhat, officials said.

The members of the community assembled near Bund in Lal Mandi area of Srinagar and held a puja in the Jhelum river for Bhat, who was shot dead by terrorists inside the Tehsil office in Budgam district’s Chadoora town on May 12.

Protests have been held at several places in Jammu and Kashmir over the killing of Bhat as well as the ‘failure’ of the administration to provide security to Kashmiri Pandit employees.

PDP president and former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, in tweet wrote, Despite GOIs fake claims about Kashmir being normal its obvious that targeted civilian killings are on the rise & a deep cause of concern. Condemn this act of cowardice which sadly plays into the vicious anti muslim narrative spun by BJP.
