The opposition has put the heat on MoS Home Ajay Mishra after the SIT revelations on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. Both the houses of Parliament- Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha saw the the opposition corner the government and seeking action against Mishra

In the Lok Sabha, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was quoted by ANI as saying “We should be allowed to speak about the murder that was committed in Lakhimpur Kheri, where there was an involvement of the minister and about which it has been said that it was a conspiracy. The minister who killed farmers should resign and be punished. The minister must resign. He is a criminal.”

Other opposition leaders too slammed the government and sought action against Ajay Mishra, RJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha was quoted by ANI as saying, I am pained but not surprised. How does (MoS) Ajay Mishra ‘Teni’ & others like him fit into the PM’s criteria of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’? I fail to understand what is the compulsion of the PM to let him continue in his post.

After investigation it is now clear that MoS Home’s (Ajay Mishra) son was involved in this incident. The Union minister should resign and strict action should be taken against the accused, Samajwadi Party Chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav told ANI on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

Congress General Secretary, Uttar Pradesh East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not sacking Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, whose son is among the accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. “The government’s refusal to sack Ajay Mishra Teni is the starkest indication of its moral bankruptcy,” Priyanka Gandhi said on Twitter. “@narendramodi ji, carefully curated spectacles of piety and wearing religious attire will not change the fact that you are protecting a criminalAjay Mishra Teni should be sacked and charged in accordance with the law.”
