Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his two -day visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh inaugurated  phase 1 of the newly-constructed Kashi Vishwanath Dham constructed at a cost of around Rs 339 crores. Modi showered flowers on the artisans who made the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, ahead of the inauguration of the project.

CM Yogi Adityanath addressed the gathering ahead of the inauguration saying, “When Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi came to Varanasi 100 years ago, he expressed pain seeing narrow streets and filth. Many people came to power in the name of Gandhiji, but it’s for the first time that his dream of a magnificent Kashi has come true.”

Earlier after his arrival in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at Kaal Bhiarav temple. The locals gave a rousing welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, showering flower petals and raising slogans of ‘Modi, Modi’ & ‘Har Har Mahadev’ in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.

Taking to Twitter, Modi said that the Kashi Vishwanath Dham project will add to Kashi’s spiritual vibrancy.

‘Tomorrow, 13th December is a landmark day. At a special programme in Kashi, the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham project will be inaugurated. This will add to Kashi’s spiritual vibrancy. I would urge you all to join tomorrow’s programme,’ Modi tweeted on Sunday.

A grand Kashi will be seen after crores of years now. Ayodhya is progressing with Ram Temple. Every cultural & heritage project of India is moving forward rapidly under PM Modi’s guidance, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami told ANI on the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dip in the Ganga at Varanasi. The PMO says it was the vision of the prime minister to facilitate the pilgrims and devotees of ‘Baba Vishwanath’, who had to encounter congested streets and surroundings with poor upkeep, when they practiced the age-old custom of taking dip in the holy river, collecting Ganga jal and offering it at the temple.

‘To realise this vision, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham was conceptualised as a project to create an easily accessible pathway to connect Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple to the banks of the River Ganga.’

A total of 23 buildings will be inaugurated in the phase 1 of the project.
