India’s Greatest Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni Announces Retirement From International Cricket

On Independence day, Indian cricket cricket fans were left stunned  as  former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni  announced his retirement from international cricket. Bring an end of an era.

“Thanks. Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired,” he said in a video post on Instagram.

Dhoni is regarded as India’s greatest captain , having led the country to two World Cup titles — the World T20 in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.

In-fact, Dhoni is the only captain to win all major ICC trophies (50-over World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy). He also led India to the number one ranking in the longest format of the game.

MS had retired from Test cricket in 2014 and was only playing in the limited overs format. The 39-year-old last played for India in the 2019 World Cup semi-final in July 2019 against New Zealand which India lost by 18 runs .

India won three ICC Champions Trophy titles with him at the helm in 2010, 2013 and 2014. Dhoni was also captain of India when they were the top ranked Test side between December 2009 and June 2011. He was also the captain when India won the Asia Cup in 2010 and 2016.

With Dhoni as the captain India won three ICC events in six years where previously they had won just two in their entire history & they became Test number one for the first time.

He will be making a return to competitive cricket in the IPL, starting next month.He will be leading the menin yellow the Chennai Super Kings.
