India Tour Of Australia 2020-21 : BCCI Announces Squad, Virat Kohli To Lead In All Three Formats, Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma Out With Injuries

BCCI have announced the India team for the tour of Australia 2020-21. Virat Kohli will lead in all the three formats. K L Rahul will be Virat’s deputy in the ODI and T20 squads. While Ajinkya Rahane hold on to his deputy role in the Test team . The two big names missing out due to injury are Rohit Sharma and pace spearhead Ishant Sharma.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee met via video-conference on Monday to select the Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming Tour of Australia. Team India will take part in three T20Is, three ODIs and four Test matches against Australia,” read a statement from BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

Rohit and pacer Ishant Sharma were not named in any of three squads — Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Rohit has missed the last couple of games for Mumbai Indians in the IPL after sustaining a hamstring injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on October 18. “The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma,” the statement added.

K L Rahul will don the wicket- keepers role in the ODI and T20 matches. Rishabh Pant figures in the Test team along with wicket- Keeper Wriddhiman Saha. KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy gets picked in the T20 squad. While medium pacer Mohammed Siraj received a maiden call-up to the Test team
