Congress leader Manish Tewari has said that India is swinging between “euphoria and moments of great aggression” with Pakistan. He made this statement after  the foundation stone of the Kartarpur corridor was laid by Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu.

Speaking to ANI after the launch of his book “Fables of Fractured Times”, Tewari said that although the opening of the corridor is being perceived as a positive move, India must exercise great caution with respect to Pakistan.

“You have two paradoxes playing themselves out. On one hand, you have this nation remembering those who were killed by the terrorists 10 years ago and you have got a kind of a new beginning with the Kartarpur Sahab Corridor. But we need to be extremely careful and extremely circumspect because with Pakistan it’s not an easy narrative, not an easy journey. Therefore we swing between euphoria and moments of great aggression against each other. We need to find a policy towards Pakistan,” he said.

The Indian government, on the eve of Guru Nanak Guru Purab, had approved the building and development of Kartarpur corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district to India-Pakistan International Border. A day later, the Pakistan government announced that the corridor on the Pakistan side would be opened next year.
