Finally Free : After Completing 4 Year Jail Term, Jayalalithaa Confidant V K Sasikala Released

After spending four years in the disproportionate assets case , Expelled All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader V K Sasikala was formally released from prison after jail officials completed the formalities.

“All formalities have been completed. She is set free from all legal formalities. She will remain at the hospital as per medical advice” said Raja Senthoor Pandian, advocate of Sasikala

The close aide of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was in the Central Jail in Parappana Agrahara for four years since February 2017 in connection with the Rs 66 crore disproportionate assets case.

The procedures for her release were done at the Victoria Hospital, where she is presently undergoing treatment for COVID-19 infection, which she had contracted a week ago, along with her sister-in-law J Ilavarasi.

A huge crowd of Sasikala supporters lined up outside the Victoria Hospital, raising slogans in her favour and distributed sweets in celebration.

On her release ,Bangalore Medical College in a statement said :”Sasikala has been officially released as on 11 am today. She was shifted to Victoria Hospital on 21st Jan and was tested positive. As per protocol, she will be discharged on 10th day if she is asymptomatic and free of oxygen support for at least 3 days”.
