Mumbai Indians sent the Chennai Super Kings out of the tournament with a crushing 10 wicket victory in Sharjah. The three time champions CSK had flopped badly in this tournament and are set to finish last in the points table. Their worst performance in IPL history.
Put into bat by Mumbai Indians stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard in place of injured Rohit Sharma, the CSK batting fell like a pack of cards against the splendid fast bowling of Kiwi Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah. The early strikes by Boult rattled CSK and they could not recover. The flop show on the other end continued with Deepak Chahar ( 0), Shardul Thakur ( 11), Imran Tahir 913) not out as CSK finished at miserable 114/ 9
For Mumbai Indians, Trent Boult was superb with figures of 4/18 ( 4 overs), Jasprit Bumrah 2/ 25 ( 4 overs) , Rahul Chahar 2/22 ( 4 overs) , Nathan Coulter Nile 1/25 ( 4 overs)
In reply Mumbai Indians were in no trouble at all. Their openers Quinton De Kock and Ishan Kishan added the CSK misery as they remained unbeaten and powered their side to an emphatic 10 wicket win. De Kock remained not out on 46 off 37 balls with five fours and two sixes. His partner Ishan Kishan made a fine unbeaten 68 off 37 balls . Kishan smashed six fours and five maximums as Mumbai raced to 116/0 in mere 12. 2 overs.
