Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting collapsed dramatically against Kings XI Punjab in their clash in Dubai and they lost a low scoring thriller by 12 runs.

SRH skipper David Warner won the toss and elected to field . And SRH bowlers kept the Kings XI batsmen in check. Skipper K L Rahul ( 27), Mandeep Singh ( 17), Chris Gayle ( 20), Nicholas Pooran not out 32, Glenn Maxwell ( 12), Deepak Hooda ( 7), Chris Jordan ( 70. The kings could manage to score below par 126 / 7 in their twenty overs.

SRH bowlers were spot on , Rashid Khan 2/14 ( 4 overs), Sandeep Sharma 2/29 ( 4 overs), Jason Holder 2/ 27( 4 overs) were the wicket- takers.

After their convincing 8 wicket win over Rajasthan Royals , SRH believed 127 would be a comfortable chase. And it seemed going that way too. Openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow put on 56 for the first wicket in 6/2 overs. But once Warner was out ( 35) and Bairstow following him after scoring (19) their were hiccups.

Manish Pandey (15), Vijay Shankar ( 26), Abdul Samad ( 7), Jason Holder ( 5) fell in quick succession. From 100/ 4 in 16.1 overs, SRH collapsed to a a shocking 114 all out in the last over. Thus lost by 12 runs. The excitement in Kings XI Punjab’s co- owner Preity Zinta’s face face after the match said it all. How much she enjoyed her team’s change in fortunes in recent matches. From bottom placed to now in the play- offs re4ckoning is a superb comeback indeed

Kings bowlers rose to the occasion to defend a small total . Chris Jordan 3/ 17 ( 4 overs), Arshdeep Singh 3/23 ( 3.5 overs), Murugan Ashwin 1/ 27 (4 overs), Ravi Bishnoi 1/13 ( 4 overs), Mohammed Shami 1/ 34 ( 4 overs)

SRH batsmen made a heavy weather of the chase and were strangled by the Kings bowlers which was by athletic fielding and astute captaincy by Kl Rahul who simply did not give up hoper even after posting a low total. It was the fourth win in the trot by the Kings and powers them to the fifth position in the points table.

David Warner and his men will be hurting by this loss .A match which they should have won. They will surely rue this match if they do not make it to the play-offs. Which now looks unlikely.
