India thrashed a listless Bangladesh in the first day and night Test at Kolkata by innings and 46 runs. With this emphatic win the much hyped pink ball Test saw a one- sided contest . India have now clinched the series 2-0 .
Bangladesh were never in the game after Ishant Sharma ripped through their batting in their first innings with a brilliant five wicket spell. The visitors were bowled out for a mere 106 . And three batsmen reaching double figures – Shadman Islam ( 29), Liton Das ( 24) and Nayeem Hasan ( 19).
For India Ishant Sharma was lethal with figures of 5/22. He was well supported by Umesh Yadav 3/29 and Mohammed Shami 2 /36. The Indian pace attack was simply too hot for Bangladesh.
In reply , India lost Indore double centurion Mayank Agarwal early for ( 14) , Rohit Sharma too fell early for ( 21). But it was the skipper Virat Kohli, who set the stands alight with his power packed masterclass. Kohli was imperious scoring his 27th Test ton . Scoring masterly 136 . Ably supported by Ajinkya Rahane ( 51) that saw India post a competitive total of 347/ 9 declared . Cheteshwar Pujara chipped in with own gritty ( 55).

For Bangladesh , Al-Amin Hossain took 3/85, Abu Jayed 2/77 , Ebadat Hossain 3/ 91 and Taijul Islam 1/ 80.
Trailing by 241 , Bangladesh collapsed yet again in the second innings . Mushfiqur Rahim scored a fighting (74) , Mahmudullah retired hurt at (39), Mehidy Hasan ( 15) , Taijul Islam ( 11) and tail- ender Al-Amin Hossain ( 21) managed to put some scores in another spineless batting display.
For India , Ishant Sharma triggered the collapse again with a fiery spell. Finishing off a supern Test , Ishant finished with 4/ 56 adding bhis 5/ 22 in the first innings. Umesh Yadav bowled superbly to take a fine five wicket- haul 5/ 53.
Ishant Sharma for his match figures of 9/ 78 was rightly named the Man of The Match.
That Jasprit Bumrah was hardly missed proves how much depth this Indian pace attack has and how the pace attack has now replaced the spinners as India’s main weapon. This is great sign for Indian cricket and big boost for skipper Virat Kohli.
