Just two days ahead of the CWG 2022 at Birmingham, India’s Gold medal prospect ace Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has pulled out of the games due to injury.

This is a shock for the fans as they wanted to see Neeraj shine at CWG 2022 especially after his heroics at  the World Athletics Champions in Eugene Oregon, where he won the Silver medal .

“Neeraj Chopra will not take part in Commonwealth Games 2022. He is not fit as he got injured in the finals of World Athletic Championship. He informed us about this,” Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General, IOA told ANI.

“Following his participation in the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, . Chopra had had an MRI scan done on Monday and, based on it, he has been advised a month’s rest by his medical team,” Mehta added.

Neeraj had scripted history as he became only the second Indian athlete to win a medal at World Championship, after Anju Bobby George, who won a bronze medal in long jump at the 2003 World Championship held in Paris.

Neeraj had shot into limelight when he made his debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Chopra won the gold medal on 7 August 2021 with a throw of 87.58 m in his second attempt.
