Senior BJP leader and former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will no longer be part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet in his second term .

The 66 year-old  Jaitley in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi said staying away from any responsibility will help him concentrate on his treatment and health.

Jaitley wrote, “I am writing to you to formally request you that I should be allowed a reasonable time for myself, my treatment and my health and, therefore, not be a part of any responsibility, for the present, in the news Government

Jaitley posted the letter on his Twitter feed. “I have today written a letter to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, a copy of which I am releasing,” Jaitley said, posting an image of his letter to PM Narendra Modi.

Jaitley said it had been an “honour” and a “learning experience” to be part of the Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government.

Jaitley said in the last year-and-a-half, he’s had some “serious health challenges”. “My doctors have enabled me to emerge out of most of them,” Jaitley said, before placing his request that he not be given “any responsiblity” in the Narendra Modi government’s second term.

Jaitley was the backbone of the government and strongly with his articulate skills defended the government both in and outside parliament on host of  issues with aplomb.  Be it the Ram Temple issue,, Triple Talaq, GST, Demonetisation, the Rafale deal, Situation in Jammu and Kashmir, NRC and others.

Major government / cabinet briefings to the media was addressed by Arun Jaitley . He was without doubt  the voice of the government  and hence for these sterling attributes will be solely missed .
