In perhaps the most unexpected win, the Congress party has pulled off a massive upset. It has ousted the BJP government in Chhattisgarh assembly polls of 2018 . It thus ended the 15 year-old reign of BJP’s Raman Singh. Going by the results that are coming in at the time of writing this story it looks like a rout for the saffron party against the Congress
According to media reports , the Congress is leading at 60 seats out of total 90 seats in the state assembly. The BJP is lagging behind at 22 seats in the 90 member assembly.
As the results for the Chhattisgarh Assembly trickled in, it appeared that the Ajit Jogi and Mayawati’s gamble had hurt the BJP more than the Congress.
Jogi – the first chief minister of the state from 2000 to 2003 and the Congress’s face in the state – is now the head of the newly formed Janata Congress Chattisgarh (JCC).
