Led by interim party president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, fomer Finance minister P Chidambaram , The Congress is holding a ‘Bharat Bachao’ rally at Ramlila grounds to highlight the “divisive and disruptive” policies of the Narendra Modi government. The protest rally comes amid a crippling economic slowdown and raging protests across the Northeast and in West Bengal over the Citizenship Amendment Act.

A day after brother Rahul Gandhi, took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan Make in India with Rape in India remark which caused furore and left BJP fuming demanding his apology, his sister , Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress General Secretary In charge of Uttar Pradesh (East) has targeted the government on its other slogan Modi Hai Toh Mumkin hai. Addressing the rally she said said : “…Har bus stop, har akhbar pe dikhta hai ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’. Asliyat ye hai ki ‘BJP hai to Rs 100 kilo ki pyaaz hai, BJP hai to 45 saal mein sabse zyada berozgari mumkin hai, BJP hai to 4 cr naukriyan nasht hona mumkin hai..”

Further stepping up the attack on PM Modi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said in six years of Modi government, the economy has tanked. “Modi hai to unemployment hai,” she said at the rally at Ramlila grounds. “Our economy was developing at a rate that the world turned their attention to us, but in six years of Modi government, our economy has tanked, people are losing jobs, factories are shutting down.”

Taking a swipe at PM Modi, Priyanka says that laws are being passed which are unconstitutional, referring to the recent Citizenship Amendment Act which has triggered violent clashes in Northeast and West Bengal.

Evoking her father’s memory while talking about Unnao rape victim, who was burnt alive by the rape accused, Priyanka said that she was reminded of her father Rajeev Gandhi’s “bloodied body” when she met the victim. “The blood of the farmer’s daughter has mixed with the country, much like my father’s blood.”

Former  Finance Minister P Chidambaram,  addressing the rally remarked : ” In 6 months Modi govt has wrecked India’s economy. Yet ministers are completely clueless. Y’day Finance Minister said everything’s alright, we’re on top of the world. The only thing she didn’t say was ‘achhe din aane wale hain.’

Rahul Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Narendra for the violence in the North East during his address saying : “The country knows the situation today. They work to create divides – between religions – in J&K, in northeast. Go to Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh. Go & see what Narendra Modi did there, he has set ablaze those regions.”

Rahul even stood by his rape in India remark and stated he will never apologise saying :”I was told in Parliament by BJP y’day ‘Rahul ji, you gave a speech. Apologise for that.’ I was told to apologise for speaking something correct. My name is not Rahul Savarkar. My name is Rahul Gandhi. I will never apologise for truth”.
