#Battle For Uttarakhand : Voting Over, BJP Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Awaits Verdict; State Records 62.5 % Voter Turn Out

The fate of 632 candidates for the 70 member Uttarakhand assembly elections was sealed as the state voted in a single phase. After casting his vote in his constituency , BJP Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was quoted by ANI saying, People in Uttarakhand have created history by voting in huge numbers. I hope that the new government will work for a golden future of Uttarakhand.

Dhami further told ANI, All our schemes have provided a shield for the people of Uttarakhand; the public knows very well who can work for the development of the state. I’m sure that the Uttarakhand public will bring BJP on 60+ seats.

The state is likely to witness a direct fight between the BJP and The Congress. AAP is trying to make an entry in the state.

According to Election Commission data the sate recorded 62.5 % voter turnout

Important candidates whose fate is to be decided in these polls include Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, his cabinet colleagues Satpal Maharaj, Subodh Uniyal, Arvind Pandey, Dhan Singh Rawat and Rekha Arya besides state BJP president Madan Kaushik.

Prominent candidates from the Congress include former chief minister Harish Rawat, former minister Yashpal Arya, state Congress president Ganesh Godiyal and Leader of Opposition in the fourth assembly Pritam Singh.

BJP had won 57 out of a total of 70 seats in Uttarakhand in the last assembly polls limiting Congress to just 11. Two seats had gone to Independents.

Interestingly Before Dhami, BJP replaced as Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat followed soon by Tirath Singh Rawat. Surprising the political pundits.
