After losing Jitin Prasada to the BJP in Uttar Pradesh , the Congress  now has suffered a massive jolt ahead of the much talked about Uttar Pradesh assembly Polls. In major political development , former MoS Home and Senior Congress Leader R P N Singh has resigned from the party. According to various media reports , Singh is likely to Join the BJP

He has given his resignation to the party president Sonia Gandhi. He tweeted his resignation letter addressed to Sonia Gandhi.

“Today, at a time, we are celebrating the formation of our great Republic, I begin a new chapter in my political journey. Jai Hind,” he wrote, sharing the letter.

Singh hails from a royal Rajput family of Kushinagar (Padrauna), Uttar Pradesh .

According to CNN- IBN report, Singh, the party’s Jharkhand in-charge, had off late been sidelined in the Congress and fallen off the Gandhis’ radar.

With Priyanka Gandhi Vadra calling the shots of the party in Uttar Pradesh it left little room for other leaders to play a significant role . Hence the exodus is not surprising at all.

Before Jitin Prasada and now likely RPN Singh, the Congress had lost Jyotiraditya Scindia to the BJP . Scindia is now Union Civil Aviation Minster in the Modi government and a Rajya Sabha MP
