Post Poll Tremors : Why V K Sasikala’s Possible Return To Control AIADMK Will Make BJP Jittery

File Picture

Post poll tremors are been felt in Tamil Nadu it seems. After the AIADM was ousted from power in the recent concluded assembly polls by DMK, there appears to be rumblings the AIADMK.

According to media reports , V K Sasikala, late former CM J Jayalalithaa’s close aide, after she eased out from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam years ago, has hinted at resumption of efforts to regain control of the party, a political comeback, by telling her supporters that there would soon be a “good decision.”

After announcing ahead of the April 6 assembly polls, that she would stay away from politics, Sasikala said she could not see the party getting ruined due to “infighting.”

Her reference to the feud, though has no direct mention of the AIADMK or its leadership, it is seen as a pointer to alleged differences between top two leaders, K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam.

If Sasikala does regains control of the AIADMK in the near future, where does this leave its alliance partner BJP? The saffron party has often talked about about fighting the menace of corruption and Sasikala was released early this year after spending four years in jail after she was convicted in a disproportionate assets case. Now,  to have an alliance with Sasikala controlled AIADMK if it happens  in the the days ahead , BJP’s corruption war could end up be yet another rhetoric.

What has generated the buzz around Sasikala’s future was a brief conversation with two of her loyalists over phone has surfaced and this has dropped hints about her rethink. In the first audio clip she could be heard saying, “we will for sure streamline the party… certainly, I will come.”

In the second, she could be heard telling the supporter that the party, apparently a reference to AIADMK, was built through hard work of leaders including her and it was anguishing to see “them fighting,” and she could not be a mute spectator to the party getting ruined due to it.

Hence, Sasikala said she would come soon and meet supporters after the second wave of coronavirus faded. The party could be brought back to a good shape and there was no need to worry.

There would soon be a good decision and she shall come soon, she said.

Sasikala’s intentions are bound to rattle the EPS and OPS faction in the AIADMK. Her entry back in the party fold will not be easy though but given her loyalty to late former CM and supremo Jayalalithaa , her political moves will be closely watched by pundits for sure . So watch this space.
