In yet another jolt to Mamata Banerjee’s TMC, Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Trivedi has announced his resignation, saying he feels suffocated in the House as he is unable to do anything for the violence going on in his state, West Bengal.

“If you sit here quietly and cannot do anything, then it is better that you resign from here and go to the land of Bengal and be with people,” he said in the Upper House of Parliament.

“What I mean to say is the way violence is taking place in our state. Sitting here, I am feeling perplexed as to what should I do,” he added. The Trinamool Congress MP said he is unable to bear various incidents that are happening in West Bengal.

Trivedi further went on to say : “Where should I raise my voice? Nobody has time. When party goes into the hands of a corporate professional, he runs the party. Somebody who doesn’t the ABC of politics becomes our leader. What would someone do in this situation?”

“I am grateful to my party that it has sent me here, but now I feel a little suffocated. We are unable to do anything and there is atrocity (going on). My voice of conscience is saying what Swami Vivekananda used to say — arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached,” Trivedi said, while announcing his resignation .

Reacting to Trivedi resignation TMC MP Saugata Roy remarked : “We didn’t know he’d resign. However, it isn’t a shock. He wasn’t a grassroots leader, had lost LS elections. Mamata Banerjee sent him to RS. ‘Trinamool’ means grassroots. It’ll give chance to other grassroots workers to emerge”

BJP General Secy Kailash Vijayvargiya on Trivedi resignation said :” Not just Dinesh Trivedi ji, whoever wants to do honest work, cannot stay in Trinamool Congress. If he wants to join Bharatiya Janata Party, we will welcome him.
