Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on charges of drug procurement and consumption. The process is underway now. It comes after three days of interrogation. She was arrested under under sections of the NDPS act.
The 28-year-old actor, named as an accused in the CBI investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on June 14, had denied consuming drugs. Her brother Showik was arrested last week.
The Narcotics Control Bureau started its inquiries based on WhatsApp chats retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty’s phone, which revealed conversations around procuring drugs, allegedly for Sushant Singh Rajput.
Reacting to the arrest Rhea’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde in a statement said, “Travesty of Justice. Three central agencies hounding a single Woman just because she was in love with a drug addict and was suffering from mental health issues for several years under the care of five Leading Psychiatrists in Mumbai, who ended up committing suicide due to consumption of illegally administered medicines and used drugs.”
Shweta Singh Kirti, sister of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput took to Twitter and wrote, “God is with us”.
