New Zealand Crush India By 5 Wickets, Win Series 3-0

New Zealand produced yet another clinical display to rout India in the third ODI at Mount Maunganui by 5 wickets. With this win they clinched the three match ODI series with a emphatic 3-0 . The Kiwis took a fine revenge of their whitewash in the T20 series against India .

It is the first whitewash for India in 31 years in a series in which all matches have been played. They were beaten 5-0 by the West Indies back in 1989 in an away series.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson ( back after missing two ODI’s) won the toss and elected to field first. India scored a competitive 296 / 7 in their 50 overs. Prithvi Shaw ( 40), Shreyas Iyer ( 62), Mayank Agarwal another failure ( 1) , Skipper Virat Kohli fell early for ( 9) . But K L Rahul once again palyed affine hand . Scoring a run a ball ton 112 off 113 balls. Manish Pandey chipped in with 42 .

For the kiwis, Hamish Bennett was the pick of the bowlers with 4/64 (10 overs). James Neesham 1/ 50 ( 8 overs) , Kyle Jamieson 1/ 53 ( 10 overs) were the wicket- takers

In reply the kiwis were put on the driver’s seat with a hundred run opening stand . Martin Guptill ( 66) , Henry Nicholls ( 80 ) batted superbly to give New Zealand the start they needed. They had hiccups though as they lost three wickets in quick succession – Kane Williamson ( 22), Ross Taylor ( 12) , James Neesham ( 19) . But unbeaten knocks by Tom Latham ( 32 ) all – rounder Colin de Grandhomme ( 58) saw the Kiwis home comfortably. They breached 300 / 5 in 47. 1 overs.

For India it was forgettable series. Outclassed in all departments. Bowlers took a hit too. Jasprit Bumrah 0/ 50 ( 10 overs) . Bumrah looked listless in the series. Navdeep Saini 0/ 68 ( 8 overs). Yuzvendra Chahal was the most successful with 3/ 47 ( 10 overs). Shardul Thakur was smashed all over the park and looked clueless 1/ 87 ( 9.1 overs), Ravindra Jadeja 1/ 45 ( 10 overs)

Henry Nicholls was named man of the match. Seasoned Ross Taylor bagged the Man of the series awards.
