Lauching a scathing attack on the West Bengal government , the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, has squarely placed the blame on the desecration of Vidyasagar’s bust in Kolkata during Amit Shah’s rally on the ruling Trinamool Congress party.

“We saw hooliganism by TMC workers again during Bhai Amit Shah’s roadshow in Kolkata. They vandalized Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar’s statue. We are committed to Vidyasagar’s vision and will install his grand statue at the same spot,” Modi said.

The PM also accused the TMC of hooliganism during his rally in Mednipur, Bengal. “Some months back during my rally in West Medinipur, TMC goons indulged in hooliganism. After this in Thakurnagar the situation was such that I had to cut short my speech and was forced to leave the stage.”

BJP is aiming to win 23 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats . The last phase in West Bengal is on May 18 for 9 seats. The TMC had won all of them in 2014. But with an aggressive BJP intent the contest could be close one this time.
