Keen to make in- roads in West Bengal and emerge as an alternative to the Trinamool Congress, BJP president Amit Shah while speaking at an election rally, said that polls in Bengal are for restoring democracy in the state, and that the BJP will win “more than 23 Lok Sabha seats” out of the total 42 seats.

Shah further lashed out at the TMC government and alleged that hief minister Mamata Banerjee is not allowing people to chant Jai Shri Ram in the state, and wondered if the Lord’s name is not chanted in India, will it be uttered in Pakistan.

Lord Ram is a part of the culture of India… Can anybody stop people from taking his name? I want to ask Mamata didi, if Shri Ram’s name is not taken in India, will it be chanted in Pakistan?” Shah said.

Shah took a dig at Mamata for not responding to calls by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Cyclone Fani. He said : “Mamata Didi said that she doesn’t consider Modi ji as Prime Minister. According to the Constitution, whosoever people of the country elect is the PM. Aapke na manne se kuch nahi hota, aur 5 saal ki taiyari kar lo Modi Ji phirse ekbar PM ban ne ja rahe hai.
