The former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi has reportedly said the sexual harassment allegations against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi the allegations were also an attack on the judiciary.

“I’m very saddened by these kind of allegations, it is not only an allegation on the CJI, it’s like an attack on the judiciary. From whatever I know CJI is a man of integrity and morality,” Mukul Rohatgi said.

Rohatgi went on to say that he thought there was no substance to the allegations. He said this feeling was only strengthened by the fact that the woman who made the allegations walked out of a Supreme Court-appointed committee.

“I don’t think there is any substance in these allegations (against CJI) & my feeling is strengthened by the fact that this lady has walked out of a committee appointed by the Supreme Court, why should she walk out? She should place her case fearlessly,” Mukul Rohatgi said.

“I’m seeing reports by some NGOs & others that this inquiry should stop now, some outsider should join, it’s completely wrong, there can be no outsider. It’s an in-house committee, in-house means from within SC,” Mukul Rohatgi said.
