Embattled Liquor baron Vijay Mallya who is residing in London ever since he left India on March 2016 has suffered a major legal set-back . The UK government Home Secretary Sajid Javid has reportedly ordered Mallya’s extradition to India on charges of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering offences.
Mallya had been fighting extradition to India on charges of fraud and money laundering allegedly amounting to around Rs 9,000 crores.
But, He will not be India soon as he plans to file an appeal. Mallya now has 14 days from February 4 to apply for leave to appeal to the UK High Court.
Mallya according to media reports confirmed that he will file the appeal. “After the decision was handed down on December 10,2018 by the Westminster Magistrates Court, I stated my intention to appeal. I could not initiate the appeal process before a decision by the Home Secretary. Now I will initiate the appeal process,” he said via social media. Mallya tweeted his desire to appeal

In December 10, 2018 a UK Court had ordered his extradition to India.
