129 Indian Students Arrested In US, Sushma Swaraj Assures All Help

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has offered full help and listed the matter as top priority to help the 129 Indian students arrested in the United States recently.

Out of reported 130 students 129 of them are Indian who have been reportedly arrested for enrolling themselves in a fake university, in what authorities are calling ”pay-to-stay” in America scheme. The students were reportedly unaware of the whole scheme and fell into the trap.

The US’ Department of Homeland Security recently carried out an undercover operation at the university in Detroit’s Farmington Hills designed to expose immigration fraud.

“We are aware of the incident. We are ascertaining more details (through) our embassy in Washington and different consulates in the US…We have also mobilised the Indian community organisations in the US to extend all possible support to the Indian students who are affected by this incident,” MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar was quoted by PTI as saying.

Kumar also tweeted the seriousness of the matter and assured all help
