The Supreme Court has pulled up Karti Chidambaram, son of Senior Congress leader and former finance Minister P Chidambaram.  The Supreme Court has  according to media reports  asked Karti Chidambaram to appear before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in the Aircel-Maxis and INX Media case on March 5, 6, 7 and 12.

The Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said, “If you (Karti) don’t cooperate in the investigation as you were doing in the past, we will come down heavily on you.”

The CJI added, “You can go wherever you want to, you can do whatever you want, but don’t play around with the law.” The SC directed Karti Chidambaram to deposit Rs 10 crore with the registry as one of the conditions for allowing him to go abroad.

The court warned him that not an inch of non cooperation would help.

“We will come down heavily, if an iota of non cooperation found,” it said.

A Delhi court Monday had extended till February 18 the interim protection from arrest granted to former Union minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti from arrest in the Aircel-Maxis scam.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in grant of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
