Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Masterclass Stuns West Indies, India Win First ODI By 8 Wickets

One has to feel for the West Indies. After being outclassed in the Tests, the ODI’s is a chance to salvage their tour. And they did show some grit in the middle scoring a high total of 322 /8 in the first ODI against India at Guwahati.
And to the West Indies 21-year-old Shimron Hetmyer (106) in brilliant batting display scored his third ODI hundred.

He punished the Indian bowlers while scoring 106, which was inclusive of six fours and as many sixes, in an entertaining 78-ball knock. He was involved in 50-plus partnerships with Rovman Powell (22) and skipper Jason Holder (38). Keiran Powell scored a fine 51.

While chasing , India despite losing Shikhar Dhawan early for 4 , India hardly looked in trouble as skipper Virat kohli and Rohit Sharma produced masterclass . They duo raised a massive 246-run stand for the second wicket with Rohit, remained unbeaten on 152. It was Rohit’s 20th ODI hundred which came off 117 balls with 15 fours and eight sixes.
On the other hand Kohli pounded the Caribbean bowlers with 21 fours and two sixes to raise his 36th ODI century and now needs just 81 runs to join the elite club of cricketers who have amassed 10,000 runs in the One-day format.

Kohli also got past the milestone of 2000 International runs in the calendar year. He emulated iconic Sachin Tendulkar in scoring 2000-plus runs in three successive years. After Kohli was stumped off leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, India’s vice captain took the side home in company of Ambati Rayudu (22). India romped home with 7.5 overs to spare.
