Goa is in a crisis ever since the health issue of CM Manohar Parrikar has come to the fore. He had went to the US for further treatment too only to relapse and admitted yet again . He had been brought to the AIIMS , New Delhi. His illness has put the BJP government in a tight spot. With CM’s declining health, the party is standing by him and has refused any leadership change in the state.

Parrikar’s illness has given the rival Congress the opportunity to try to stake claim to form the government in the state.
Chandrakant Kavlekar, the Congress legislature party chief, said in a letter to the governor that Parrikar was “unable to function and governance has come to a standstill.

With 16 of the 40 seats in the assembly, the Congress is the state’s single-largest party.

But the BJP, which has 14 seats, stitched an alliance with regional players Goa Forward Party (GFP) and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), which have three seats each, after the elections last year.
