India’s batting line – up fell apart once again to the guile of Moeen Ali as they crashed to a 60 run defeat at Southhampton in the fourth Tests of the five match- series. Ali bowled brilliantly to take 4/71 in the second innings adding to his superb spell of 5/ 63 in the first innings . A total figures of 9 / 134

Thus giving England the series 3-1 . Chasing 245, India were all out for 184 . Skipper Virat Kohli ( 58) and deputy Ajinkya Rahane ( 51 ) put on a 101 run partnership to keep India’s chances alive , but the moment Virat fell the inevitable was jus a formality.

Sam Curran, capping another fine all-round display, ended the match by having Ravichandran Ashwin lbw for 25, with the 20-year-old all-rounder, who made his England debut in June, now having been on the winning side in all four of his Test appearances.

This result, however, meant India had won just one of their last nine Test series outside Asia — and that against a struggling West Indies.

Indi will now go into the fifth Test at Oval from September 7 to restore some pride. Especially the batsmen. They have let India down the series. Skipper Virat Kohli, it seems is waging lone battle . Despite hundred by Cheteshwar Pujara and two fifties in the last two Tests by Ajinkya Rahane it just not seems to be enough.
