Finally The Date, Imran Khan To Take Oath As Pakistan Prime Minister On August 18

After dabbling  with various dates, it is now final that  Imran Khan will take the oath as Pakistan’s Prime Minister on August 18, a senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader said .  Earlier there were reports of the cricket superstar turned politician taking oath  as Prime Minister on August 14. The  Independence Day of Pakistan.

Senator Faisal Javed also tweeted that the PTI has invited Indian cricketers  legends -Kapil Dev,  Sunil Gavaskar and Navjot Singh Sidhu,  to attend the oath taking ceremony of the cricketer-turned-politician.

“Imran Khan to take oath as Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the 18th Aug 2018 inshALLAH (if God wills)”, Javed tweeted.

His tweet came after President Mamnoon Hussain summoned a session of the National Assembly on August 13 during which the newly-elected members will take oath.

The PTI’s parliamentary committee  recently officially named party chairman  Khan as their parliamentary leader and nominee for the next prime minister of Pakistan.

The PTI, which secured 116 general seats in the National Assembly in the July 25 polls is the largest party in the lower house of parliament.

PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry has said: “Imran will be elected prime minister of the country within the first round of vote in the Parliament.” He further claimed that his party has the support of 180 members in National Assembly.

Meanwhile, India’s High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria met Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson Imran Khan a week before he is sworn in as Prime Minister. In a meeting at Khan’s Bani Gala residence. Bisaria later tweeted his meeting .

The Indian High Commissioner briefed the PTI leadership on his government’s concerns about terrorism and cross-border infiltration. Khan raised the issue of human rights violations in Kashmir and the need to re- start dialogue on all outstanding issues including Kashmir.

Bisaria, who had been in touch with the PTI leadership in the months preceding the elections, gifted Khan a cricket bat autographed by the entire Indian cricket team.
