Novak Djokovic Ends Two-Year Grand Slam Jinx , Wins 4th Wimbledon And 13th Grand Slam Title

Serbian Novak Djokovic has bounced back in style . The Serb who had not won a Grand Slam since the French Open in 2016 finally overcame his slump in form with a superb victory at Wimbledon 2018. The Serb beat the giant killer , big serving South African Kevin Anderson in the final with a emphatic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 ( 7-3) win. Anderson had upset Roger Federer in the tournament.

The win was Djokovic’s 4th title at Wimbledon and his 13th career Grand Slam title . He is now trails the Grand Slam records of Pete Sampras ( 14) , Rafael Nadal ( 17 ) and Roger Federer ( 20) in the all time list.

For the 31 – year -old Djokovic the win could not have come at a right time. Marred by recurring injuries and poor form, Djokovic was shadow of his former self in 2017 and leaving fans wondering whether his career is all but over.

But this triumph at Wimbledon has silenced all critics. he hung in there and battled it out. He beat world number one Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals in a thrilling five set battle 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (9), 4-6, 10-8.

And many knew that once had got past Nadal and Federer already out , Djokovic was the firm favourite , given his experience against Anderson in the final and it happened just like that.
