Ahead of the Pakistan General Elections 2018 scheduled to be held on 25th July, former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz has suffered another big blow . Nawaz Sharif has been convicted  and got a 10 year jail term in one of the three corruption cases in the Panama Papers scandal .

The court delivered the verdict after postponing it for four times in the Avenfield corruption case — pertaining to the ownership of four flats in the posh Avenfield House in London.

Sharif, 68, is currently in London attending to his wife Kulsoom Nawaz who was diagnosed with throat cancer last year. His daughter Maryam too has been sentenced to 7 years in prison.

It may be recalled  that the PML – N Leader ,  and former PM Nawaz Sharif,  was  in April,  barred by the Supreme court of Pakistan for Life from contesting polls and holding public office.

The latest court verdict effectively ends his political career and his party in tatters.
