The BJP which had expressed great confidence in winning the trust vote in the Karnataka assembly as directed by the Supreme Court, failed when the D- Day Came. Admitting that he did not have the numbers and conceding having only 104 MLS’s, BS Yeddyurappa resignd as chief minister ahead of the much talked about floor test.

The writing was on the wall for the BJP as the numbers did not add up. What was more embarrassing for the party was the coming to the fore in all channels four audio tapes of BJP leaders openly making bribe offer to Congress MLA’s. It rattled the party .

BSY gave an emotional speech and praised the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah. “I will lose nothing if I lose power, my life is for the people.” He said there was no way he could have served the people of Karnataka as the Congress was not even allowing the MLAs to speak to their family members.

He then said that he will resign as the chief minister of Karnataka. He will meet the governor after the Assembly session and submit his resignation.

My only aim to form the government in Karnataka was to help the poor and farmers and waive off their loans. All that Congress has done is try to divide the society on the basis of caste and religion. I wanted to serve the poople of Karnataka,” Yeddyurappa told the House ahead of the floor test.
