BJP chief Amit Shah conducted a three-hour session with top party leaders armed with power-point presentations, data and strict targets for 2019 National elections.  Several  Union Ministers too were present at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday. The BJP chief laid out a roadmap to win 360-plus seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, still 20 months away.

Shah’s directions were issued on a day when 17 Opposition parties came together to target the Centre, the latest in a string of attempts to stop the BJP juggernaut that rolled out in 2014, reports DNA. His exercise also coincided with Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool sweeping all seven civic bodies in West Bengal. Interested, the BJP emerged as Trinamool’s main challenger in the poll results, indicating a paradigm shift in state politics.

Shah has toured states like Kerala, Karnataka in recent times and is scheduled to visit Madhya Pradesh today. The state visits assume significance given that Shah holds extensive meeting with office bearers.

“He first shared his insights from his trips so far,” said a leader present at the meeting.

The session also included a presentation on how to fight anti-incumbency in states such as Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat where the BJP has been in power for three terms.

According to Indian Express report, Shah had assigned a cluster of five Lok Sabha seats each to Union Ministers, leaders in the organisation and state ministers called to the meeting.

Regarding winning that 150 seats, BJP is focussing on states like West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. As part of its strategy, BJP will conduct frequent surveys — once in three or four months — to comprehend the pulse from the ground zero. Shah also emphasized on adopting flexible strategies which means surveys will play a pivotal role in changing strategies as per the need.
