Ireland were asked a tough task to beat India . But they did put up spirited fight in the rain- hit encounter. eight overs were reduced to make the contest a 12 overs a side .
Put into bat by Hardik Pandya making his debut as India skipper , the Irish side helped by Harry Tector’s counter-attacking 64 not out off 33 balls took Ireland to 108 for four . Apart from Tector no other batsman clicked : Paul Stirling ( 4), Skipper Andrew Balbirnie ( 0), Gareth Delany ( 8), Lorcan Tucker ( 18) , George Dockrell not out 4
For India the bowlers were on target : George Dockrell 1/ 16 (3 overs), Hardik Pandya 1/ 26 ( 2 over) , Avesh Khan 1/ 22 (2 over) , Axar Patel 1/ 12 ( 1 over), Umran Malik 0/14 ( 1 over) , Yuzvendra Chahal 1/11 ( 3 over) , For India the most talked out fast bowler Umran Malik made his debut .
India were always in control of the match chasing a modest total. And it was an easy outing – Ishan Kishan (26 off 11), Deepak Hooda (47 not out off 29) and skipper Hardik Pandya (24 off 12), cruised to victory in 9.2 overs with 7 wickets in hand .
For Ireland Craig Young 2/ 18 ( 2 overs) , Joshua Little 1/ 39 ( 2 .2 overs) were the wicket- takers.
