The Samajwadi party and the Bhaujan Samaj party have struck a deal for the 2019 Lok Sabha Electiopns in Uttar Pradesh. It was agreed that the two parties would fight in equal number of seats 38 of the 80 seats in the state .
Leaving out only two seats for the others to join the alliance. Congress party has been snubbed and not included in the alliance. Will this be able to rattle the BJP is a million dollar question ?
The seat sharing decision was announced at the joint press conference by BSP supremo and former CM Mayawati and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
“Moreover, even without an alliance with the Congress, we have left two seats — Amethi and Rae Bareli — for the party so that the BJP do not conspire to defeat their party president and UPA chairperson,” Mayawati said.
On why SP- BSP came together, Akhilesh Yadav said: “To defeat the arrogance of BJP, it was necessary for BSP and SP to come together. BJP can go to any extent to create differences in our workers, we must be united and counter any such tactic.
Mayawati remembered the alliance between Kanshiram and Mulayam Singh Yadav that defeated the ‘casteist’ BJP in the early 1990s.
“That alliance could not go for long. But now to defeat a similar kind of ideology and thought that we have come together again,” the BSP chief said.
“The people of this country are fed up with the fake promises of the BJP that’s why we have decided to fight this Lok Sabha election together. This will lead to a new political revolution in the country,” she said.
