IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon 2018 : Over 1000 Armed Services & Mumbai Police Personnel To Run

More than 16,000 runners are set to run the 3rd edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon on Sunday, 30th September, 2018. Of the runners, over 1000 participants are from the defence services, with 800 runners from the Navy alone. In addition, there will be about 100 participants from the Mumbai Police force. Around 10 members from the 7 Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army will also be participating. This elite team has participated in top marathons across the country, with their members bagging numerous podium finishes.

Organised by NEB Sports, the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon will be flagged off by legendary batsman and brand ambassador of IDBI Federal Life Insurance, Sachin Tendulkar. The race will start at Jio Gardens, Bandra Kurla Complex and conclude at R2 Ground, BKC. Winners will be felicitated by the Master Blaster himself. The Half Marathon will commence at 5:15 am and will witness 5000 runners; while the Timed 10K will start at 6:45 am with 7000 runners. The 5K Fun Run will begin at 8:15 am and will have 4000 runners crossing the starting line. The participants will compete for a podium finish; with a total prize money of around Rs 10 lakh up for grabs across the categories.

50 doctors from Nanavati Hospital, the medical partner for the event, will be present along the race route for the benefit of the runners. The doctors will be supported by their medical staff and will have 10 ambulances present on standby, while the medical base camp will be equipped to handle emergencies. Over 200 Mumbai police personnel, and over 1000 youth volunteers and support staff will assist the runners for a glitch-free race day. To further help the runners, there are 9 aid stations along the route, at every kilometre.
