It is no doubt the biggest upset of the Asia Cup 2018 . Who would have thought that debutants Afghanistan would knock out the struggling five time Asia Cup champions out of the event? No one. Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties have been proved yet again.

Sri Lanka having already lost their first encounter to Bangladesh by 137 runs needed a win to stay alive but the Lankans struggle with the bat and ball continued as they went out tamely

On a rather slow pitch, Afghanistan managed to post a fighting total of 249 in their 50 overs. A total for their bowlers to defend.

For the Afghans Rahmat Shah sored a fighting 72 off 90 balls. Thisara Perara was the star for Sri Lanka picking haul of 5 for 55.

Sri Lanka in reply were just not able to get away and were tied down by Afghan bowling. They were shot out for a paltry 158. Thisara made 28 with the bat, skipper Angelo Mathews 22 and Upul Tharanga 36 in a listless display of batting.

Mujeeb ur Rahman, Gulbadin Naib, Rashid and Mohammad Nabi picked up two wickets  for Afghanistan to seal a stunning win.
