The war of words between the Congress and the BJP over the Rafale deal has only got bigger. After Congress president Rahul Gandhi termed it the great Rafale Robbery, Union finance Minister Arun Jaitley refuted Rahul Gandhi’s charges.

Now former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has posed some tough questions to the government over the Rafale deal.

Chidambaram also put a question mark on the Union government which had said that the Rafale aircraft deal was an emergency one. “If it was an emergency purchase for the depleted squadron then why has not a single aircraft arrived till today when the agreement took place on April 10, 2015?  From what I have found out, the first one of the 36 fly-away aircraft would arrive in late 2019 and the last one by the end of 2022. They have compromised with the internal security of the country,” he said.
